Visiting the Principality of the Northern Forests

VISA Application

The Principality of the Northern Forests has strict entry requirements irrespective of which country you are traveling from. Every person wishing to visit the Principality is required to have a Visa which is essentially written permission from a member of the Princely Family or the government. Under certain circumstances, a Certificate of Citizenship may be used if you do not reside in the Principality.

Any person who unlawfully enters the Principality will be arrested, detained, and handed over to the host country's law enforcement for possible criminal prosecution.

Requirements for a Visa

  • You must hand in all the documents necessary to travel to the Principality.

  • You must have a passport that is valid for at least three months after the end of your visit. The passport must be issued within the last ten years.

  • You must have valid personal/travel insurance in case you are injured in the Principality.

  • You must have enough money to finance your stay in the Principality of the Northern Forests and your return journey. You must normally have PKK 50 (about 50 Euros) for each day of your stay in the Principality. Alternatively, someone you know, who is living in the Principality, can give a financial guarantee.

  • You must not be subject to any type of prohibition against entry into the Principality of the Northern Forests.

  • You must show proof of your right to visit to the Royal Guards at the border station.

  • If you are under the age of 18 then you cannot travel to the Principality without a legal guardian from your home country.

How your application is considered

  • When we process your application, we consider how probable it is that you will return to your home country or the country you live in when the visit is over. We consider the situation in your country and your own situation.

  • We will focus on whether you have anything that ties you to your home country, for example work, property, a spouse or family members who you are supporting.

  • If we believe that it is unlikely that you will return, your application will be rejected.

Your possibility of getting a Visa

  • If you plan to visit friends or family in the Principality of the Northern Forests then you will normally be allowed entry into the Principality.

  • As of 2023, if you are simply a tourist with no real legitimate reason for visiting the Principality then there is a good chance your application will be rejected.
