Responsibilities
 

The Princess's Exchequer, or the Lord or Lady Exchequer, is the government’s chief financial Lord or Lady and as such is responsible for growing the Principality economy, raising revenue through taxation or borrowing and for controlling public spending. He or She has overall responsibility for the work of the Treasury. The role is equivalent to that of a finance minister in other countries or the High Treasurer. His or Her Lady or Lordship's responsibilities cover:
 

• Delivering the government’s growth mission;

• Fiscal policy (including presenting the annual Budget);

• Oversight of the monetary framework;

• The minting or delegation of minting of coinage once approved by the Royal Family;

• Management of the Principality's coffers;

• Investigating monetary fraud in the Principality;

• Principality growth and productivity, including working across government on skills and the labour market;

• Collecting any type of taxes should there be any to collect.

The coinage minted in the Principality is mostly symbolic and whilst it does have monetary value in other countries due to them being minted in a precious metal, they are generally kept privately by citizens for personal pleasure.
